D&P Industries Inc (DPI) first formed in 1999 by James Dahlstrom and Lloyd Phillips developing www.UrbanGardenCenter.com as its website. Since then, DPI more than tripled in sales and continued to improved the product line. DPI began as a manufacturing company, producing what is now known as the Urban Compost Tumbler. At that time, we recycled large food containers used by mass food distributors like Steinfeld Pickles to produce our first composters. As the demand for our product grew, we listened to customer feedback and incorporated the things they wanted most. We worked with a few hand-picked suppliers to mold a new, patented design that fit today’s modern lifestyle. After nearly 10 years of perfecting our composting product, we’ve developed one of the highest quality, easy-to-use composters at an affordable price. It answers avid composter needs with less maintenance, faster composting time, moisture control, portability and a fully enclosed design to eliminate odor and keep out pests.

Lloyd Phillips, CEO and Co-founder
Lloyd, with his wife Sung, brings more than 35 years of business experience to Urban Garden Center. Originally from the Willamette Valley, Lloyd has been entrenched in the high tech market for most of his career. His intricate knowledge of data processing has provided the leadership and technical expertise for Urban Garden Center’s online strategic development. That coupled with his ongoing dedication to understanding and living by a sustainable philosophy creates a unique blend of talent that has guided Urban Garden Center’s steady growth for nearly 10 years. His strong leadership skills and disciplined style is a direct result of his time spent in the US Marine Corp. He graduated with a degree in data processing and has most recently served as the General Manager for information systems and data communications for the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, Oregon. His dedication to lower impact living is stemmed from a desire to provide a better home for his family and future generations.
